Marching Along..

March has been such a great month. We started it off with losing an hour on day-light savings. Every year I am amazed at how much lighter or darker it is at certain times, mainly around 5 p.m. Now it's light until past 7! That same day we were able to visit my side of the family for my cousins wedding in Olympia. It took place in a country club on the water, it was beautiful.

Later this month, A few of my close friends were so kind and threw me a Baby Shower! I couldn't have been more excited and grateful to have had so many people express their excitement for me. We played creative games and ate really good cake, a super moist banana cake and a fudgy chocolate cake with berries. I also received many items for our little bundle of joy that I really needed. So a large thank you goes out to you ladies!

Later in the month, I was able to have one final ultrasound at the doctors. I was excited to have a little peak at our lil' girl while we wait in anticipation and excitement these last 2-3 weeks.

Typical baby though, she's moving and jostling around the whole appointment and once the Dr. applies the goo she turns into a statue. It was still neat to see the little feet and outline of her head and nose. She obviously didn't want me to get the fullest enjoyment because she also fisted her hands over her face. The two parts I have most enjoyed seeing on the screen. O well, she can't hide from me much longer : )

This month Skyler and I also had the chance to squeeze in some birthing classes. I thought I knew a lot from reading and talking to others, but wow. I learned there are so many different ways your delivery can pan out. Skyler was out of town the second class, but my mom was so nice and decided to come down and attend with me. It was fun to spend time with her and learn about my own birth and my siblings.

This last week has been especially nice due to the fact that Skyler has been on Spring Break. He has had the opportunity to travel for work and cover NCAA basketball games the past few weeks, so it was extra nice to just spend time together. We went to the movies and then out to Seaside for a day or so to see family.

We had "Chinese Ice Cream," went for a drive, saw our nephews (Skyler and Abe), watched Quantum of Solace (oo7) with his parents and ate breakfast at this cute little bakery I have been dying to try. I also bought my own first pair of basketball shorts at the Nike Outlet.

Spring Break: We're Glad You're Here

It has certainly been whirlwind the last several weeks. In addition to all the exciting developments with Chelsea's pregnancy, the little lady is just three weeks away from the due date (YIPEEE), I have battled through quite the flu, dealt with the exciting stress of finals and managed to travel a bit as well.

Two weeks ago, my beat writer Tom and I ventured down to Ogden to cover the Big Sky Basketball Tournament hosted by the purple-clad people at Weber State University. The Vikings, the team that we cover, ended up winning the tournament and claimed a berth in the NCAA Tourney. Great news...

We found out where the team was headed last Sunday and then had to scramble to complete all our finals before we headed to...(drumroll)...Boise, Idaho. In addition to Tom and myself, we traveled with the editor-in-chief and an expert photographer. Portland State played Xavier on Friday afternoon and although the team lost, we had a terrific time.

It was interesting to see how my colleagues reacted to Boise. When we first found out, they were not super excited. The other options were more appealing: Minneapolis, Dayton, Philadelphia, St. Louis, Kansas City or Miami. Those did mostly sound nice. But Boise was certainly more accessible to us and we were able to drive there and get a nice hotel room for pretty cheap.

This week we are excited to spend some time together. I am happy to get my taking-care-of-Chelsea muscles back into shape. She doesn't ask for much but hopefully all will continue to go well in these next few weeks.

School will start next Monday and I couldn't be happier to be in my final term. Terrific! I am in the process of applying to grad school and the pressure of graduation, frequent travel and a new baby make the time go by pretty quick. In addition to that, I am headed to Charlotte, NC next week for a conference.

Anyhow Chels has been bugging me for awhile to put a post up here.... so hope you like it. I wanted to add my new favorite youtube video... It is a must see... If you check out just one youtube video this lifetime- make it this one...

Getting Excited!

Wow, what a great 'Love Month'. Beautiful weather, and lots of creative juices flowing. I recently was able to attend a RS Bead night- I'm not much of a beader but I had heard how much fun it was and decided to give it a try. There were so many great ladies there, Melinda made a really good desert and I was able to make some really cute hair clips I never thought would be so easy! This month I also tried making my own Valentines Day cards, which was fun.

It's crazy to think that 4-6 weeks from now Skyler and I will have a little girl in our arms! I am so excited at times I want to put in the car seat and pack a hospital bag but I know I should hang on just a tad bit more. My doctor says everything is going really good. I'm especially excited because my Dr. visits are getting more frequent which makes it seem even closer. At my last visit she showed me how to feel what position she is in, that was so neat. I had been feeling the usual jabs, prods and moving bumps but it was SO cool to know what was where and which bump was the rump.

A little while ago Skyler and I had the chance to stay at the hotel I work at. Our schedules aren't very permitting to us spending time together for much of the week so it was a nice little get away, without really getting away. We also attended a Blazer game that night, the scores were close the whole time making an exciting crowd. So a riveting game coupled with a luxurious suite made for a really nice relaxing weekend together.

Monkey Business

This last Sunday a scout announced that his Eagle project would be to collect 100 sock monkeys to send to the Philippines for the poor children. I thought that idea was so cool, I wanted to help but I know my sewing skills leave some to be desired... Determined- I studied the instructions carefully and decided this was something my recycled yellow sewing machine and I could do. Gathering traditional colors and non-traditional striped socks at the Dollar Shoppe and cute buttons from Michael's I was more excited then before! The actual construction of the monkeys is getting easier but the first one was a little challenging. I hope the kids like them as much as I do!

Bring in the New Year!

Happy New Year everyone! Whats a better way to bring in the new year then by celebrating with "Winter Storm watch 08/09" and being stranded at your house every other weekend? Well, on the off weekends we were able to visit Skyler's family in Seaside! Seeing the chubby seals at the aquarium, watching three cute little girls get oogled by each passerby, and getting to hear all the new words Sky and Abe are learning. We also enjoyed a riveting game of Domino's, contrary to belief it did change on a dime and we learned a few new things about some family members... What a great first week of 09'. Thanks everyone!
