Father's Day

Happy Father's Day Skyler!

Getting back from our long trip just the night before, it was a low key day, we all really enjoyed spending time together after being apart.

Tuckered out during a walk.

We headed up to Spokane for a fun night away in a hotel while Skyler attended a conference. We got to town, grabbed some dinner and ate at a riverfront park. After heading to the hotel and getting in the pool Hobbes' breathing had sped up considerably, enough that I called his Dr. and gave him some extra inhaler doses.

It was a good long stretch without any asthma or ear problems, but go figure, once we were out of town again...
Dr. advised us to head to Sacred Heart Spokane Childrens hospital to get it under control. He did some breathing treatments and got on steroids for a week to get it controlled.

He's doing lots better now, so much for a "fun" weekend away ;)

Just because.

26 Days PT 2

We drove up to Kent for another 10 days or so, one of my best friends from High school was having a baby shower that weekend and the next weekend my brother was graduating from college. So it just worked out to have an extended stay.

Such a cute elephant themed baby shower.

It was great to catch up with Taylor and Sam.

We tried out a new park, rode bikes and let the kids climb this tall rock thing that goes to the top of a slide. Upon visiting, I found it wasn't geared for little kids. But they had a good time anyway.

While we were at the beach Hayley got a loose tooth. We figured it would be awhile until it fell out but I suspect that once I told her she couldn't leave it alone and it came out within the next week.

Lake Meridian Park

Before graduation we got to go check out some of the senior projects. Jon was part of a group working on a sensor for the Port of Tacoma.

There was another group that modified a battery operated car for kids so that kids who can't turn a steering wheel, but can hold a joy stick can still join in on the fun. The students were excited to  have actual kids try it out. They enjoyed it too.

Jon graduated from UW Tacoma!

It was an interesting ceremony keeping all the little ones occupied...

Hurray!

It was so fun to see family and spend lots of time together, but after nearly a month it was time to head home.

26 Days, PT 1

It was time to get away. We got a little cabin for two nights in Vernonia, OR and camped.
We took the MAX train in to the Zoo, the kids loved it!

After a morning at the Zoo, we took the train a little further down town and walked around the old familiar places we used to live/work/visit/attend school. There is a fun park at the very south end of the Park blocks right in the heart of PSU where we hung out and the kids napped in the stroller for a bit. The weather was warm and perfect.

Unfortunately the second day of our adventure it rained so we headed out to the coast to Skyler's parents house. Skyler spend Memorial day with us and then had to head back to Pullman for work. It was great to get away for a few days as a family though.

The kids and I stayed a week longer at Skyler's parents house. We enjoyed the beach, took walks, went to his nephews' baseball games and choir concert. We drove in to Sauvie Island one day and picked strawberries for jam. The kids loved it, Hobbes pretty much just ran wild stomping and chomping on everything. Ripe or not he didn't really care.

As any visitor to the coast knows, it's hard to get a perfect day on the beach. Warmish where the wind isn't blowing you over. It's not uncommon, but it certainly doesn't happen every day especially when you factor in nap times and the marine layer. But we did catch a few days/times where the kids really enjoyed themselves and managed to get sand in every nook and pocket available.

(love Hobbes' face)

(um ya, they were sick of me taking pictures)

Just for kicks...

(He's holding a Calvin and Hobbes comic book)

"When in Seaside..."

This would be Hobbes' "NO!" face.

Cannon Beach...

A stranger offered to take the picture so I could be in it too.
Too bad the light was behind us.

Love them.
