One more from Hobbes' birthday....little turkey. I turn around and he's shoving a cupcake cone in his mouth with a big ol' smile like "hey mom! look at this yummy hand held treat I just happened upon on the counter here!"
Happy Birthday Skyler!
I snuck out of bed and decorated the house with map bunting and balloons. I even filled his car with balloons for him to find the next morning. I wanted to do his office, but it turned out I wasn't the only one with that idea! Thanks to his co-workers!
After many prayers, much pondering and job searching, Skyler was offered a position at Pacific University as Director of Intramurals. They wanted to move quickly, so within a month we need to tie up ends in Pullman. We have so loved Pullman and all the wonderful lifelong friends we've met there. I wouldn't trade anything for the experiences we've had in Pullman, living in a college town, you really learn what the term bittersweet means. It's hard to say good bye to friends and even harder to leave. I will sorely miss Pullman, but am so excited for the next chapter.
Pacific wanted Skyler to come and sign paperwork and it worked out to be on my birthday that we'd head to Portland. Ben and Jodi were so gracious to watch our kids while we made the 8 hour drive there and back in 30 hours more or less. So the kids had a great time playing with cousins and we had a fun time begin able to talk and explore Forest Grove.
Jodi was so sweet. Amidst taking 6 kids to a splash pad she even made me a delicious strawberry shortcake cake on an adorable cake stand that I didn't get a picture of unfortunately...:(
Thanks Jodi!
Oh ya, and her girls all wrote me cards,
"Happy Birthday Chelsea, you are sweeter than a flower"
(Unrelated side note to be documented) Amidst the spring/summer fun I got an itch to build a bench for our playground. I'd asked for one to be put in for 3 years since we moved in but it just didn't happen. So...thanks to pinterest and the beasely garage sale. I bought a circular saw for $5 and found a pallet next to our dumpster. I only spend $15 on nails/screws and 2 pc. wood for the legs. But in hindsight I think if I'd looked around a little (craigslist, dumpsters etc) I could have found more wood for free. I also already had the stain.
It was a huge pallet.
They also provided a chain and lock so it didn't get stolen.
Once we knew we were going to be moving, Skyler's parents had a weekend off and came out with a trailer and took a load of stuff and celebrated Skyler's birthday with us. We are so grateful for their help! Hobbes loved the dolly rides.
